Anyone know?

Question

I'm going to ask our pediatrician at our first appointment tomorrow but until then I'm watching him like a hawk.

Our little guy is 4 days old now (old man!) and I put him on his back to sleep but he turns himself to his side to face us. The SIDS recommendations say baby should be on his back for safest position.

What to do? Should I just keep turning him back on his back or what?

FTM here...so many questions!! Anyone else come across this? What did your doc say?

He is fine. Especially with the mesh bumpers... My daughter slept on her belly at a week old and still does to this day (7years later) to put your mind at ease you can always roll up a receiving blanket and firmly put it next to his chest. Not in front of his face of course but just in the chest and abdominal area. But he will be fine :)

Swaddle with arms out- or one arm out. I'm having number 4 in October. First one, I never had a blanket big enough to swaddle. I got tons of receiving blankets- those don't work! 
My second hated it. I had a special swaddle me blanket. And my third put herself to sleep to sleep as soon as she was swaddled and laid down - amazing!!

Swaddle him and he won't roll?

I think they make wedges you can put in the crib to help them not be able to roll over but not sure. He's tiny so pillows in there with him are a no but maybe a blanket rolled up against his legs? However it is a sign of strength and intellagence that he can already roll himself into his side!

I will be a third time mommy soon. I had this problem with my first! My suggestion is to swaddle! I highly recommend it. Keeps them from wiggling around (and waking themselves up) and because they are used to being confined in the woman and can help them to feel more secure and sleep longer for mommy and daddy 😊
