At what point in labor do you go to the hospital?

I had a little scare yesterday so I went to the hospital to check on my LO. Thankfully all was well and I was discharged. While i was there, I asked the nurse their policies on labor & delivery. She told me if my water breaks, to come in right away. However if my labor starts with contractions, I have to wait until the contractions are 5 minutes apart for TWO HOURS and then go in, otherwise they will send me home. Is it just me or is that wierd? I mean TWO hours??? I was especially shocked because I'm Strep B positive and they said I should still wait and go in at the last minute. I thought I needed Antibiotics ASAP?? 😕 What are your thoughts on this ladies?

That is really standard actually and not last minute at all. Usually with a 2nd baby they have you come sooner  but the first will usually take more time to come out. You are just heading into your active stage of labor at that point and it can still take HOURS after that starts before its time to push. You want to stay home as long as possible...the longer you are in the hospital the more likely doctors are going to intervene uneccisarily.

Don't know about the whole strep b but honestly I wish with my first one that I would waited at home longer. I was there about 3-4 hours before they really did anything.

Mine told me I only need to rush into L&D once my water breaks being strep b positive. Otherwise I don't know the general rule of thumb for contractions, maybe it depends on your hospital? I am totally clueless about everything lol

Ours said 5 minutes apart, and you can't walk or talk through them... then come in. Or, if your water breaks.

They say don't come into the hospital until you can't walk or talk, well how am I supposed to get into the car and walk into the hospital if I can't walk? Lol 
I tested positive for group b strep and the nurse told me to come in when I am having contractions that are 5 mins apart, lasting 1 minute for an hour. She told me to make sure that I tell whoever is my nurse that I have strep b.

You only need to go to the hospital immediately if your water breaks and you are positive for strep B. Once your water breaks you need to be on antibiotics immediately. As long as your water has not broken you don't need to go in until they stated.
