Would you ever take the nexplanon out yourself?

Question

I've seen youtube videos, and it looks really easy and I can't think of anything that would go wrong if I was super careful and sterile and if I had someone there with me in case of an emergency. Thoughts?

It says in the instructions that Nexplanon should only be removed by a trained professional. It says that for a reason.

I removed it myself after having it in for 10 months. As long as you use sterile procedure, it really isn't that hard or painful. Took me about 30 minutes.

Me and my bf tried to.. After an hr of no success, made a dr appt. it was embedded and tissue had grown around it. I had only had it for a year. Instead of the initial incision, I had to have two incisions and ended up with stitches and a huge bruise. Please see a doc don't do it yourself!!! I stress it that much!!!!!!

This is 2018 now and this was posted years ago but thought I would answer I took mine out myself yesterday I had the whole thing planned I bought a scalpel tool used for surgery online and then took it out with it myself , I don’t recommend but I did I had it for a year and a half and was just frustrated with it , I had no sex life from it because it took my drive away and the only way to get my Sex drive was to drink and stop taking my meds for depression it just wasn’t healthy anymore so I said enough is enough and did it yesterday my mood has actually improved in that little time from today and yesterday I kept calling my doctor to do it and they couldn’t get me in for a really long time or they wouldn’t even answer anyways it’s healing fine and I hope for the best with my sex drive I hope it comes back soon

it took me 4 hours and a tea towel full of blood, don't do this yourself!!! I did it because I was in a manic mode from my mental health. DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF. I had no issues but i could have easily hit a nerve or major vessel. and I have a big scar from it. this scar is a full fingernail long

I know several people who had it taken out at their doctor's office and it was embedded in the arm and very difficult to remove. It's not something I would do at home.

Mine took over 30mins to remove. Been in for 1 year. I had the self removal thought, but for the in case something could go wrong idea, I would never. So glad it's out!
