"This is how I was brought up! I was raised this way!"
To me, this is the ultimate cop-out.
I was raised in a strict Catholic household. I was brought up to fear anybody not like me. I was taught to hate anyone not straight and cisgender. I was taught that anyone of a different skin color was bad.
But I am not my parents, or their parents. Eventually "I was raised this way" turns in to: This is my choice.
