Is the myth true that infants can swim?

As soon as they're born, apparently you can just put them in the water and they start to swim????? This sounds scary to me. Does anyone know anything about this??

They will hold their breath and move arms and legs but it doesn't mean they will swim and not sink.

I'm pretty sure it's true that they know to hold their breath when you dunk them (please don't hold me to that and drown your child) but I'm not sure about "swimming".

I think that they'll automatically hold their breath under water as a survival instinct. I remember hearing/reading that somewhere.

I wouldn't test that theory, though.

Not true 😑I took my daughter swimming when she was 4 months old she loved it but she didn't swim. We put her in one those floating baby hoops.
