Car Seats?!

Hi everyone! We're starting to look at what to register for and I wanted to get everyone's opinions on infant vs convertible car seats. Are yall registering for both or skipping the infant car seat altogether for the convertible?

As a second time mother,  I can't imagine living without an infant car seat.  Just the fact that you don't have to disturb/wake up your child when putting them in or taking them out of the car.  Not to mention the MANY times that my son refused to nap until I put him in there and rocked him to sleep..  I wish they made an infant carseat for toddlers :p

Infant is a must have for sleeping babies and winter weather!  In winter they stay so bundled up and warm/cozy.  Also priceless when they are sleeping and don't have to disturb the. DON'T  go without unless you really have to!!!!

Infant seat is SO useful if you drive regularly. You don't have to unbuckle the baby to take the out of the car, which is great the first few months when they sleep a lot. If you live in the city and drove 1-2x a month, a convertible would probably be OK

Definitely get an infant seat. It's so nice to ba able to bring them I'm while they're still sleeping. It's also "cocoony" so it helps protect them from the elements when you're transferring them.

Infant seats are so useful! If baby falls asleep you can move them without having to wake them up. Also, if your out and about like at a park or mall and baby isn't able to sit up on their own you can attach it to your stroller so you're not constantly having to hold or wear the baby in a carrier.

These ladies are completely right.  You WILL regret not having an infant carrier... Waiting at dr appointments you won't have to carry baby. You can sit the carrier down and wait. If baby has reflux the doc might suggest you put them in the carrier after feedings. If you go to someone's house it's easier to have a place to put them that you know is clean and safe, restaurants will be easier as long as they fit in their baby carrier, people open doors for you when they see you lugging that thing around. Winter baby it keeps them warm... Summertime you take it with you and you don't have to worry bout putting baby in a super hot car seat that's been baking in the car. If the baby will go to daycare they will often ask you leave the car seat there encase of an emergency and the large bully ones are just too much to remove every day.

I have this one I believe is convertible because my baby will be born in the winter and I know she'll be small but this will give her lots of space for her snow suit and she won't feel so tight in a small infant seat. This is my second winter baby so I kind of know what works for us.

I used an infant seat with my first two... But it has expired so I am going straight to a convertible seat. I am petite and it is pretty difficult to carry around the infant seat. With my second I left the seat in the car and put him in a Moby wrap to carry around. I think that that will be better for me epically because I will be chasing a 4 year old and two year old with a newborn.

We are registering for a convertible, but also a stroller with an infant one.  That way my cat will have the infant one but hubby's car will have the convertible.  My car is driven more than his but sometimes he'll need to pick up or drop off and will need a car seat
