False negative ?

Are false negatives a thing? My period is 5 days late now and it's been slightly irregular since I became sexually active... But I was still worried so I took a test that came out negative... But I'm second guessing the test... Could it have been a false negative???! - are those even a thing??

Yea. I didn't get a positive until a week late. Got 3 negatives throughout the first week and then a positive. Did you use any kind of protection or birth control?

With my daughter I didn't get a + until I was 8 weeks along and I didn't think I was pregnant because of the - tests. I found out I was pregnant at my Pap and they do a routine pregnancy test and it came out positive and I was shocked, they did an ultrasound that day because I had no clue how far along I was and it came out I was eight weeks pregnant!

Agreed Kristen, that's why I asked about her ovulation. Might be able to calm her fears if the deed was done far enough from ovulation. Which is still not a guarantee.

Yeah it can be possible that you're having a false negative because of early pregnancy if you are pregnant. Many times persons who are pregnant they don't get a positive response until 7-9wks, i had a friend who never had a positive response until 12 week and 15 weeks so it is possible that you can get a false response due to the fact that you can be experiencing early pregnancy not sure though.
