Glucose test?

Is the glucose test really needed? Anyone not had it? Or not having it?

Yes it's very important. For your health and the baby's. It's covered by insurance because it is considered "medically necessary". You could have serious complications if you do have gestational diabetes untreated, which could stay with you after pregnancy and result in type 2 for the rest of your life. Not to mention the issues it could cause your baby. Definitely an important test!

My dr told me it's actually one of the most important tests during your entire pregnancy. We have a history of diabetes in my family. I did the 3 hour test at 18 weeks and will have to get it done again at 28 weeks. It sucks but it's really important to know if you do have gestational diabetes because it can be bad for the baby

Yes.  It doesn't discriminate and having GD can cause serious complications for baby.  Talk with your provider about risks to babe if it isn't caught and managed.

I am definitely going to ask if I can do an alternative. I would never consume  that much sugar, especially with all the chemicals and colours in it. I will ask for fasting, random and post prandial blood and insulin tests. Even if I have to do them daily for a fee days. The tolerance test doesn't even test insulin which is so stupid.
