It takes me awhile to get in the mood and my SO of almost three years is wonderful in bed , he's the first person to make me orgasm and it's wonderful. But I get "dry" easily. We have lube but I'm not sure when to add it ? We're super open with sex and it's hardly ever awkward but when's the time to add some lube?

I was on the pill and it kept happening to me, sex couldn't be enjoyable so I just stopped taking it after switching between a few, unsure about what birth control I want to use next. (Don't want to get something permanent and then have the same problem.

Are you on the pill? Dryness can be one of the side effects.

I would be open with your partner about that. If he understands that it's not about him, he actually can be the one to apply the lube when "the time comes" (directly before penetration) in a way that is sexy, not-mood killing. And he'll be willing to stop and apply more if needed (if the wetness stops) because he can understand that it's happening because of a side-effect, not him.
