Hospital packing questions?

In four weeks I'll be 30 weeks, a first time mom and wondered when I should start packing my hospital bag? And also what I should pack?

I had no complications, fortunately, up until 36 weeks (now 37). I started packing my bag around 35 weeks! I have Chapstick, breast pads (for leakage), pads (heard hospital ones are huge) I have a brush, deodorant, tooth brush/tooth paste, extra hair ties, stretchy pants, underwear, 2 nursing bras, socks, lotion, my baby book (to record things), baby's coming home outfits (a few because I don't know what she will fit into). I just packed what I thought I needed, didn't really go by any specific checklist. I still need to get travel size shampoo/conditioner.

I just had my baby last week--I'm a ftm as well and didn't know what to expect--I WAY over-packed. I had packed 3 outfits for me, 4 for baby, personal care items, a blanket for baby, a nursing pillow, things to do and a few other random items--I did NOT need 3 outfits--I stayed in the hospital gown the whole time I was there, and baby had clothes from the hospital--so I really only needed 1 outfit for him and 1 for me to go home in. the blanket, nursing pillow and things to do never came out of my bag--the personal care items however did indeed make a debut and made me feel more human after my c section.

I've had 3 babies and am expecting my fourth. For babies 1 and 2 I stayed in the hospital gown the whole time. For baby #3 I brought my own stuff to try to be cuter. I ended up having excessive bleeding so changed out of my stuff right away so I didn't ruin it. I won't even try to look cute for #4. I'll just pack a going home outfit for me and baby, toiletries, baby blanket, nursing bra. For my first baby I desperately wanted Chapstick and hard candy. My lips and throat were dry from breathing through contractions. The hospital didn't have either to give me. Don't forget the camera and phone charger.

I started packing at 36 weeks and TOTALLY overpacked. What I will be packing this time... 
For Myself: Going-Home Outfit, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, travel shampoo, bath sponge, socks, chapstick, nipple cream, breastfeeding cover, and breastfeeding pillow. 
For Baby: Going-Home Outfit, bibs, a few diapers & wipes, socks, supplement formula, bottles, pacifier, back-up outfit, blanket, and baby hairbrush.

The hospital I will be delivering at provides so much for me and baby, it's awesome! Make sure to ask.

I found a great blog that had a list, the two items that really stuck out:
Honey sticks, to keep your blood sugar up during birth (I'm so getting these!!) &
Adult diapers, to just not have to worry about the blood after everything- kinda brilliant actually.
