Adoption while TTC?

Question

We are going on 2 years TTC. Beginning next year, we will start the IVF process. We've also talked about adoption, knowing it can take a long time to adopt a baby. When should we start looking into the adoption process? After IVF? Before? During?

We are exploring all our options at the same time- having our IVF embryo transfer in a couple weeks, taking the classes to become licensed foster/adoptive parents and keeping private and international adoption on our back burner for now.  You just never know how things are going to turn out so we are trying to be open to all ways of becoming parents.

My husband and I are doing this! Ivf isn't financially an option for us so we decided to take fertility treatments a bit slower and do adoption first! We're doing adoption through foster care and so far it's gone quickly.  We applied in October and completed our home study in December. We know the matching process could still take some time but we're hopeful that we'll be placed by spring.

In the mean time we've been consulting with a urologist to see if there is anything we can do to treat our low morphology. So far we know that hubby has a variocele, low testosterone and high prolactin. We see an endocrinologist Monday to treat the high prolactin and then we'll go from there to treat the testosterone and variocele. Looking to be a long process.

I just read an article about how this couple couldnt conceive so they found a birth mother and set up to adopt from her. She ended up prego with triplets.....then just 2 weeks after the babies were born the couple found out the wife was prego with twins!! Although its a miracle, and amazing...i would wait to start adoption process until after. Unless you know you plan to adopt.
