"mother in law" advice?

I'm already 23 weeks, due in January. My boyfriend barely told his mom that I'm pregnant, maybe 2-3 weeks ago. Since then I've been trying to get her to be involved in things, it's hard because she mainly speaks Spanish and I don't know spanish so I rely on my boyfriend to get things by to her. I tried to give her my number and she won't take it because she only wants to talk to my parents, she wants nothing to do with me yet asks my boyfriend to take pictures of me so she can see my stomach. idk what to do.

Maybe you could learn some things to say in Spanish,  tell her how excited you are about the baby and her being a grandma.  Sometimes shoeing that you're making an effort really helps a relationship and if she's going to be in your life,  may as well make the attempts.  I have a friend whose wife speaks mainly Spanish,  she really tried with her English and I try with Spanish.  It's still uncomfortable on the phone because there's a lot of possible not understanding then one of you may get embarrassed.  I get that is easy to be upset with her,  but I think the language barrier is what keeps her from not wanting to deal with you,  not bc she doesn't like you.

My mother in law isnt involved other than she'll bring clothes over every once in awhile. Is there a reason you're trying to push it?
