Period sex

So! I was on my period, and my boyfriend and I had sex,(light flow day) but then it stopped.. Usually my periods last like a week, and I was on day three. We didn't use protection because I thought I would keep bleeding, and ovulation happens about a week after your period ends, but then I stopped bleeding. Compleatly. We got freaked out, and I took plan B, but I was just wanting opinions.
