HSG - trying after?

I had a HSG today which I found incredibly painful. Didn't get told any results so completely in the dark. In the leaflet from the hospital it says:

Side effects:

You can resume your usual activities the following day. We strongly advise you to use
contraceptives until after your next period to avoid pregnancy. 
Does anyone know why this is? I can't find anywhere on the net that says you can't try for that cycle.

I waited a day or two afterwards before having sex only in the event I had cramping or any spotting. It's a painful, awkward procedure,  but has to be done in order to check the lady bits out and before proceeding forward with fertility treatments and procedures. I don't remember anything about waiting a whole month to try again. Mine checked out fine but still no luck in getting pregnant yet, ttc 2 yrs., 5 iui's,  2 on menapur. Next stop ivf town. I have heard that you have increased fertility for up to 3 months after an hsg maybe it's a warning for people who aren't actively ttc?

Haven't heard that. Many people get pregnant the same cycle as the hsg.
