What age did you paint your child's nails?

I figure since I'm pregnant with a girl and I paint my nails, some day she'll want to have her nails painted too. What age did you paint your kid's nails? What age did you let them try paint their own?

I have a five Month old daughter and I won't paint her nails until she's at least five.

When they stop putting their hands in their mouth is a good time. Nail polish has tons of chemicals in it and you don't want them ingesting it. They do make nontoxic nail polish for toddlers and younger children.

You have to be careful of the age very young children's nails have pores so when you paint them this closes them and affects nail growth etc. This is one of the reasons nail polish specifically for children exists as well as being non toxic. Do your research

I started painting my oldest daughter's nails at 2 1/2 when she'd actually sit still and let me do it. I let her try to paint her own at 4.

My cousins started around 2 years old but they are really girly and act older then what they are. Plus they sit and bug till u paint their nails lol.

I'm the oldest out of 6& I always do my makeup in front of my siblings my youngest sister is 3 and I paint her nails and toes:) very light colors though nothing dramatic I add stars or hearts sometimes my mom enjoys it and she behaves for awhile lol!
