Gifts for second babies?

My SIL and I are due within weeks  of each other, her with her first and me with my second. I have been gathering gifts to send to her because we live in different states. I recently had a family member tell me that no one will be sending me anything for our baby because it's tacky to send gifts for the second baby. I wasn't expecting anything however, I had never heard of this logic. My children will be 4 1/2 years apart and I always send gifts to my expecting friends and family whether it's their first or 5th baby. Is this common practice?

Being on this app I've learned people the differences of how I am accustomed to things and how other do it. I'm my family we give gifts no matter what number the child is, and they also throw babyshower soft what ever pregnancy it is. A new life is a reason to celebrate and I think it's sad so many people think it's "Tacky" to do so.

A lot of ppl don't have a second baby shower. My step mother was sure to point that out to me, however, my children will be 7.5 years apart and it's my fiancé's first child so we will be having a baby shower wether ppl agree with it or not! I have nothing! A friend of mine just had her third but first boy so I threw her a small get together. People bought clothes and diapers

I was always told if the second child is a different gender then it's ok I send stuff but same gender it's "tacky" , I however am like you and celebrate every new baby I generally give everyone a diaper cake (I love making them) and then something a little more personal

Everyone I know has second third fourth baby showers! Each baby should be celebrated!!  I will be having one with my second baby whether its the same gender or not! I think its a specail time to get together with friends and family to celebrate a new life!

A lot of women don't have a second baby shower. I'm not having one. Not by choice but because I don't live near anyone now. I don't expect to receive anything from anyone either.
