Cycle after Birth Conrtol

I was on birth control for 10 years and have now been off it for 7 months. It took 6 months for me to have a period due to the hormones still in my body and stress due to a lot of life changes (yes- I was seeing doctors just to make sure things were ok without a period for 6 months). How long did it take others to develop a regular cycle after stopping birth control?
