Heavier than usual period flow!

I just had my Paragard IUD inserted 8 weeks ago and this is my second period.

The last one was very heavy but not too painful and not unmanageable.

This time around I am going through a regular tampon every hour and a half- two hours. Is this normal?? It is the fifth day of my period. I also have occasional vaginal pain that I've never felt before.

I can use larger tampons but they are very uncomfortable for me to put in and take out. Now I'm bleeding through the tampon and filling about half a large maxi pad every 2 hours!

My flow has never been this heavy and I know it has to do with the IUD but how much flow is TOO MUCH?
