Ovulating and clomid

So, I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago to talk about our fertility problem. She asked if I had been tracking my ovulation. I told her I had, but not religiously. I had use two opk's and one I hadn't ovulated and the other two I had. She told me to go ahead and track the next two cycles on a calendar and bring it back to her and we could reevaluate the.  I had told her that I was pretty sure I was ovulating most cycles with just cm checks. Now that I'm actually tracking with opk's I realize I might not be ovulating every cycle. Has anyone had any luck with clomid? I know that there are several side effects. Any advise before my next appointment?
