Gynecologist question?

How did you find the right one for you and future pregnancies? I have only ever been to health department but now I have insurance and 3 weeks late. I don't even know where to start looking? I am overweight so that has me a little scared too. I hate being judged and when drs always mention that first it makes me super uncomfortable. Like hey it's my body I know what's wrong with it. No need to point it out. I own a mirror.

If you have a positive pregnancy test then you can call the OB department at a clinic covered by your insurance. If you don't like one try another. I had the same OB for both my kids because my family recommended her. But I just wasn't feeling comfortable once I was going through 2nd pregnancy, but didn't wanna switch so late in the game. After he was born I switched to one that I had seen only 2 times for check up cuz mine wasn't available and the comfort level was phenomenal. Now I'm much more excited for how the care will be once we conceive our last child :)

I looked online at our insurance's website and looked at available providers. Then I picked one because his name was Ken Adams and that was the fake name Joey always gave out to girls on Friends. True story. Kind of a silly way to pick an ob, but he's been the best dr I ever had. ;)

On a more serious note, it might help to figure out what kind of care you are looking for. Do you want traditional care with an ob and a hospital? Or a midwife and a birthing center? Or a combination of the two? Just make a list of what's important to you in a health care provider/delivery and if the OB/midwife you select isn't willing to fight for you on what you want (or explain to you why what you want might not be medically a good idea) find someone new. Pregnancy is hard enough without feeling like you can't trust your doctor to take good care of you and your baby. :) Good luck! I hope you find a wonderful ob!
