What's the best birth control method with the least amount of side effects??

I'm thinking of using some form of birth control other than condoms but I don't want one that is going to have a number of side effects so I'm looking for perhaps a non-hormonal method. What are people's experiences with the implant and the iud?? Or any other birth control you would recommend?

With the IUD you should also keep in mind that they normally won't give them to women who haven't had a child or aren't a certain age.

The implant and some IUD's are hormonal birth control... If you want non-hormonal BC then you should ask your doc about the copper IUD.

I have the Mirena IUD, and it's been great. I can't feel it, and it has made my periods lighter. I haven't had any issues with it so far.

I haven't felt any effects from the hormones other than sensitive breasts.

It was painful to have it inserted though. The first week was uncomfortable too. Despite that, I would do it again. The convince of having one is too great.

I have the implant. There's been debate with my parents and me about whether or not it has worsened my anxiety/depression. I think I'm fine, honestly. It did cause a small increase in appetite, and I finally filled out to a normal weight for my age/height. I know the shot severely messes with mental disorders. IUDs may become lodged in the lining and could become infected. Some women's bodies reject them. The pill is a commitment. I couldn't remember to take one each day at the same time. It's honestly up to you, whatever you feel more comfortable with.
