Weight loss surgery before ttc?

Question

So im considering weight loss surgery bypass or the sleeve. Anyone that can offer some insight or provide their experience. I am trying to get pregnant but thinking about putting that on hold for weight loss surgery. Im also worried if surgery will change the plan of having a vbac? Thank you in advance.

Hey there, my name is Heidi.  I actually had weightloss surgery to help me conceive.  I have been heavy mist of my life and my period was always irregular.  When me and my husband started ttc we found out I was diabetic.  Going on insulin I gained another 70 pounds.  My oeriod stopped all together.  I then looked into the weightloss surgery,and me and my husband came to a decision that it would be best.  I had the sleeve 10/15/14 and lost over 115 pounds .  Within a month my period came back and became regular.  I am proud to say I am 8w3days.  I thank god for that surgery not only did it make me a healthier person but it has given me my baby... Hey I had a gastric bypass in June 2011 and was pregnant by November 2011 was on bc but it failed. The pregnancy was completely fine made sure I took all my vitamins etc and had a healthy 9lb baby boy in July 2012 😊😊😊😊 xxx

I had weight loss surgery on August 19th, 2016 to be able to conceive. Before weight loss surgery I was 313lbs, 5'8". Now I am 255lbs, just 5 months later. 58lbs down so far. About 2 months post op my period came back and is now regular once again. Before WLS I had a period but it was extremely irregular and I was anovulatory. Now I'm happy when my period comes because it means I'm ovulating once again.  😏 can't wait to be pregnant with my sweet angel. The "after" picture was me yesterday. Good luck!

Hi there. I had gastric bypass in 2015 and am currently 10+3 weeks pregnant. I didn't have it to get pregnant but this is a nice surprise. I had really bad hypertension (200s over 100s) all the time and I wasn't able to do much, I had depression, my periods were sporadic and life was a chore! I tried every diet possible and realized it was a food addiction. It's been a great tool! I've lost 186lbs! I've gone from almost 400 to 200 now (near my target weight I'm over 6ft tall). It certainly has it's downfalls but the positives outweigh the negatives by far! If you want to know anymore let me know! Good luck in your journey!

I wanted to have weight loss surgery. I have a very hard time losing weight, no matter how hard I try. I do lose weight, but it's like five pounds a month. However my insurance doesn't cover it.

I want to lose the weight while we are TTC. I was going to put it off, but seeing as how things haven't really regulated (average cycle: 42 days), it seems pointless on my end.

I'm also looking at my options of weight loss surgery , but was worrying about the "wait time" after the procedure before we could continue trying again. Does anyone know if the different procedures have different wait times and if it is still possible before the wait time is over to get pregnant and what are the repercussions from that happening?

I got the weight-loss surgery July 2014 I lost over 120lbs I'm currently  20 weeks this was not planned but very sweet surprise for me. I got the surgery not only to help me conceived but to better my health  I still have self image battle cause I've gain 10 lbs since i got pregnant my doctor assured me that everything is fine but I am at risk of preterm labor but so far this pregnancy been very smooth
