When was your 1st ultrasound?

I was so excited for my first appointment this coming Friday. I will be 10.5 weeks. This is my first pregnancy so I called the doctor's office to ask what I needed to know for the first appointment. I was hoping to get a sonogram either at this appointment or around 12 weeks. My doctor said I won't get the first sonogram until 20 weeks!!! I am so bummed!! But the nurse said we should get to hear the heartbeat, so that will still be cool.

Just curious when everyone else got their first sonogram, especially since I've seen so many sonogram pics posted already!! If there was a special reason you needed/had to get one early, that would be interesting to know too. I guess if I don't need an early one for medical reasons that should be a good thing?!?!

I got my first scan at my first appointment at 11 weeks. I think it's just normal practice. I won't get another until 20 weeks. Every office is different. You really don't need a scan until 20 since there's very little detail, though it's great seeing your lil one moving around. Hearing the heartbeat will be great too.

I went in at 8 weeks and found out I ovulated late and was only 6w4d. So they consider it a "dating scan" to confirm EDD. I don't get another until 20 weeks but was just in for my 4 week follow up (10w2d) and heart baby's heartbeat with a doppler.

I got one to basically confirm the due date at 8 weeks, and before that I went to the hope center and they gave me one at 6 weeks! If you wanna see the baby and you have a hope center I would go in there and act like you don't know and tell them when your last period was and they should give you one if they think you are 6 weeks or more, if not they will tell you to come back and give you one, or atleast that's how my visit there went

I had my first at 6w2d. They called it the dating ultrasound. But I think they did it mostly because I had had a mc last fall. Just had my second ultrasound at 13w2d. That one was for checking how the baby was growing and if it might have downs.

I wasn't sure what to expect because so many people have commented on having theirs done at such different dates. I have a 10 week appointment this week and am not sure what they'll do. I know they do the 20 week anatomy scan out of the office in a different location.

I had my first one at 10 weeks, but only because my periods were irregular so they wanted to measure for due date purposes- otherwise they were only planning to do one at 20 weeks :/ kind of a bummer!

My first ultrasound is coming up on October 9th I can't wait! This is my first pregnancy and cannot wait to meet our little one!
