Baby carrier

We have decided to register for the Ergobaby 360 baby carrier after reviewing them and choosing this as our favorite. We like it bc you can carry the baby facing you as well as outward and on your back. And we also don't want a wrap-style carrier. My mom told me to take it off the registry. She said it's way too expensive (it is expensive at $179) and by the time the baby is big enough to face out we won't be carrying her anymore. We should register for a cheaper carrier. What does everyone think? Anyone have this particular carrier? Is it worth it?
