The 'talking' phase

I've been talking to this guy for almost 3 months now. I am a 22-year-old Virgin and he is 28 with son. He is an awesome guy but not too great with communication since I depend on phone conversations while I'm away at school. He's expressed numerous times that he looks forward to the moment I give myself to him because then he'll receive the 'ultimate trophy' (not sex, but a unity, relationship, etc.) He's met my family, I've expressed interest in him, and we've put in numerous hours of time into our 'relationship'. I have yet to meet his family, and the only people that know about me are his friends. You would think we'd be dating by now. He thinks were taking it slow, but I think we're getting nowhere. Am I wrong to ask him if this is going anywhere and break it off until something actually happens?
