When will my period come back?

I took my first pack of birth control pills ever and stopped taking them almost a month ago for health reasons. My period was due 3 days ago and is always on time, but it's not here yet. When can I expect it to be back? Even on birth control, I got a "period" at the right time. I don't understand how taking it for one month could mess my cycle up like this.
