Love?

Question

I wanna know people's perspective on love. Do you think love is different than what it was back then? I feel like the word love is thrown around too much and some people don't know what it is until they meet the right one. Everyone says love on a daily basis at least that's me, but do we really mean it and how do we know it's true.

Honestly, I've thought a lot about how I define love. My parents have always taught that love is a choice. You choose to love or not love someone on a daily basis. I thought, "Okay, fair enough, I guess that makes sense." But that still didn't really answer my question. What IS love? It wasn't until this past year that I discovered a definition that really clicked. My parents had it right.

Well... part of it.

I believe that love is a choice AND an emotion. It's caring about someone to the point of naturally putting their good before your own. The thing is, you have to choose to care about them that much. Of course, depending on the person, this choice can either be difficult or easy as breathing. Finding a significant other, to me, depends on how easy that choice is and if they would choose to do the same for me.

As for throwing the word "love" around, I'm definitely guilty. Before I was dating someone, it really annoyed me when a couple would call, "Love you, babe!" as they were walking out the door. Like, excuse you! Not all of us are comfortable enough to vocalize our affections, let alone are even in a relationship. Check your privilege. But now that I AM in a relationship with someone, and have been for a while, I completely understand how easy it is to just say it and not mean it. ... At least, not every time. I can be so eager to have someone to say "I love you" to, I undermine what the powerful phrase really means. Which, hey, is fine. As long as we know how powerful it is and let the people we do love know how much we really do care.

But those are just my thoughts on it. 😜

You know what love is when you feel it and that is the only way to explain it. You might meet someone and say that you have never loved anyone before then but that might not be true - maybe you just wish that they were your first love therefore you cast any other love that you have felt aside. You forget how you felt for someone over time, and you often can't remember if you loved them or not x

Everyone has their own definition on love. To me love means... No matter what happens you never stop caring. Yes i agree the word is throw around too much, but if you know the person well... Then you'll know if it's true or not.

Love comes in various forms: Romantic, platonic, familial, sexual, self-love etc. No form is more important or superior to the other. Each contain great value.

Until I found my person, I threw the word around a lot 
I told all of my friends that I loved them every single day 
But now that I've found him.. The word love means so much more and holds so much more weight that if I say it to someone that isn't him or family it feels weird and wrong 
I don't know 
Maybe that's just me? But that's how I feel about it
