Can you eat while in labor?

When you first get to the hospital do they let you eat? I'm asking because  I'm 30 weeks currently and feeling hungry almost 24/7 😅 when I don't have something to snack on I feel light headed, and I don't wanna feel that way when I'm there!

When my water broke at home the Dr said I could eat light before I left for the hospital but I was still starving during labor. I told everyone who would listen about how hungry I was even while getting my epidural. Once my baby was born i ate a turkey sandwich as I held him 😂

I was in labor for 28 hours on Thanksgiving Day & couldn't eat anything!! I was "lucky" when I finally got a 2nd cup of crushed ice! All everyone was talking about was good & everything on TV was food (thanksgiving)-related. I was jealous of the people at homeless shelter b/c their food looked like a gourmet meal on the news!

They have never let me eat. With my fourth baby I moved furniture and cleaned all day. Then I ate Kentucky fried chicken which involved a lot of coleslaw. At bedtime I took Reece's pieces upstairs and proceeded to hide them under my pillow so I didn't have to share. My back was hurting so I asked my husband to rub my back... He rubbed my back like three rubs... My water broke! I was miserable during labor. Sick and then it's time to push and pooping the whole time. If I would have known I wouldn't have ate a thing!!!

I was induced and told to eat a big breakfast with lots of protein as once they started, it was just clear liquids. I was able to have jolly ranchers, Popsicles, jello, and broth during labor

I'm at L&D now with preterm contractions and they won't let me eat. If I had known that I would've had my morning snack before coming over. lol

You can have broth or something light that they normally provide. Once you get an epidural, you can only have ice chips. Be careful eating right before you go as you can throw up easily. Your body needs to be basically empty for all the pushing and laboring.

Depends where you're birthing. My birth center lets you eat the entire time you're in labor if you feel like it. Most hospitals do not let you eat though.

Mine told me no... they even got a little uptight about me asking for a cup of ice for godsakes.... I was like coooommmooonnn!

Nope. Once you are in active labor, you can only have ice chips. They don't want you to eat in case you have to have a C-Section.
