When in labor, is it hard to sleep?

Are the contractions so intense it keeps you awake? Even if you have the epidural?

Possible to sleep comfortably with the epidural but without it you won't be getting any sleep. Contractions are the worse part of labor and I'd rather have my son 30times again than ever feel the contractions again. Worth the pain but not a pain I want to have again. Epidural helped so much!

I loved my epidural. I didn't feel a thing. I was so relaxed because it was the first time in a long time I didn't hurt every time I moved. Anyway, I was so relaxed that I fell asleep and the blood pressure monitor alarm went off because my blood pressure got so low.

With the epidural it seems possible - even though I personally had too much adrenalin for that to happen. Without one, not for me. But maybe if you did hypnobirthing or something like that.

I was in labor for 20 hrs. I had the epidural given to me several times then I was able to

I was able to get a little bit of sleep after the epidural. But was awoken by worse contractions. Once or twice they adjusted my pain meds and I was able to nap a little more.

I slept through hard labor with my epidural. I was induced via pitocin at 2-3 cm, 80% effaced at 8:30 am. They turned off pitocin around 2:30 pm as my body was going into labor on its own. The contractions were noticeable but not painful until my water broke at 7:00 pm then about an hour later, they were on top of each other and terribly painful. I had back labor so I only felt them in my lower back. I opted for fentanyl but after the first dose, I was throwing up so I tried to go without but by 11 pm, I was only 6 cm dilated and miserable so I got the epidural around 12:45 and slept until about 3:45 when the doctor said it was time to push. The epidural was wearing off by then but it was easy to work wth my contractions and know when to push. Baby was born at 5:32 am :)

I had an epidural & wasn't able to sleep, even though I was in labor for 28 hours. It seemed like it would never end at the time mostly b/c I was so terrified, but looking back, it definitely doesn't seem as long as it actually was at all!

My labor never lasted long enough to sleep. There is no sleeping with hard labor. The pain is too much. Even with an epidural there should still be a lot of pressure. Everyone is different though
