Drive FL to ME 6 weeks after delivery?

Question

I just realized that my sister's wedding in Maine is only six weeks after my due date. Due on 14JUN2016, her wedding is 30JUL2016.  Not going is not an option. It's my little sister!!

But wow!  We live in Florida, flying with a 6 week old is not an option, so that leaves driving the ~24hours.

Has anyone done this?

Driving will make it so you can be the most comfortable and pack everything you may need. If you want to fly you hold your baby so get an ergo carrier with the infant insert and no one will touch them. I flew to England with a 5 month old and again when he was 2. 13 hrs one way not an issue. Except when they lost my bags with my pump and certain necessities I couldn't bring as a carry on. That sucked lol!

Why is flying not an option? That's a long drive! It can definitely be done but it'll probably take double what you expect...more if your baby has colic!

No offense mama but are you ok with taking a 6 week old around people that would be my concern. Just something to think about.

Ugh.  I guess I didn't think about driving with a C section realistically. I just presumed I would immediately heal. Haha. We could probably make it a 3 day trip.  Drive 9 hours to VA, then 9hrs to NY, then 6hrs to ME.  My close friends live in VA and NY

The good news is they'll sleep most of the way a did your nursing then all you'll have to do is stop about every 3 hours to feed and not worry about taking and mixing formula. But, I would consider flying if I was you.
