Positive test-when to get blood work done?

Just got my BFP this past weekend, took four tests. I called my doctor this AM, said won't see me until I'd be at least 8 weeks on November 9. Does anyone know if you can get blood test done earlier than that or go to the ER and ask for lab work. Or do I just wait it out until I go to the doctor?

You don't need a blood test as HPTs are basically just as accurate nowadays, especially since you took 4! You will need an ultrasound to date the pregnancy and make sure it's not a blighted ovum or ectopic, and 8 weeks is normal for that.

I wasnt seen by my doctor until i was 14 weeks. I found out at 7 weeks, got a urine test at the health department to confirm it to insurance. I couldnt wait that long so i went to planned parenthood at 12 weeks and got an ultrasound done. I think they like to wait because chemical pregnancies are common most people just dont know it happened. But i think you will be fine :)

It depends on your doc, but generally the ones that get blood tests are those that have had complication in the past, like me, and the levels need monitoring.

What exactly do you want a blood test for? It's normal for the doctor to ask you to wait until 8 weeks

I was in the same boat! Waiting 8 weeks is painful. I had my primary Doctor confirm. I finally get to see the OBGYN on Friday. It feels like forever but it'll go by fast too. :)
