When will you tell your boss?

Question

I'm considering telling my boss this week at 14 weeks. Is that too early?
I work in the creative field and we have a pretty tight knit group. I started to show and I think co-workers are already speculating since I stopped drinking at social gatherings.

My husband and I work together. He immediately told one person at work who told everyone else. So everyone knew the day after I did. It's OK, we're pretty close, so I don't mind them knowing. Besides, being so sick, it would of been hard to hide. My boss won't let me lift anything heavy lol. It's funny.

I told mine at 10 weeks. I was low on personal/sick days and needed to ensure that I could make doctors appointments without fear of losing my job or benefits. They've been kind enough to extend FMLA-style benefits for my pregnancy even though they don't have to by law (not a large employer). I've been very careful not to take their generosity for granted and I've worked early/late most days so they can see I'm not slacking (also so they can't use my pregnancy as an excuse to fire me -- I've heard of that happening). It's hard being a working expectant mother, but I think it only makes me stronger. Not to say SAHMs have it easy, they also have a lot on their plate.

I just told my boss and co-workers (16 weeks). Everybody was surprised because I'm not really showing :) but everybody's really happy for me, so I feel like it was the right thing to do.

My immediate supervisor knows, we are good friends. But my managers dont. I've been thinking about telling them because I am so tired lately i feel like it takes me longer to do everything

I told mine and all of my other managers at 8 weeks. I work in a very fast paced and sometimes stressful environment and I wanted them to know in case I slowed down or needed to be put on an easier position. I work around food too and the ms was getting to me so I'm glad they knew haha. I'm also just very close to the people I work with and they know we went through a missed miscarriage in January so I wanted them to know our happy news as early as I felt comfortable.

I told mine at 8 weeks I work with autistic boys so u wasn't able to help as much when they loose them selfs but now out group of boys knows and the people I work for and everone is excited

I told my boss at 6 or 7 weeks. We have a really good relationship. But more so because if I need to attend appts or God forbid anything happened I know she would be really supportive. Also enough time to find a replacement and for there to be some cross over time between when I leave and the next person starts. I'm just past 12 weeks now and will probably tell close colleagues next week 😊😄 but everyone is different and u have to do what feels comfortable for you.
