Crib bumper... Safe?

Question

Hi ladies,
Went I left the hospital with my newborn they recommend me not to have any kind of pillows or bumper in the crib to avoid suffocation.My little one is 3 months today.
What are thoughts about it? Do you use it yourself? You think is safe?
For decoration purposes I would love to put it, but I'm scared.

There are some made of mesh fabric that are supposed to be safer. They aren't as pretty unfortunately. We are not using any. No bumper, pillow or blanket. That's what's recommended to avoid SIDS. Which essentially means that all those super cute and expensive bedding sets are pretty much useless except for sheets and accessories. But my baby's health is obviously more important than decoration. Plus you still get to decorate the rest of the room. 😊 I am sure there are plenty of moms who will say they had a bumper and their baby was fine. And chances are, your baby would be. Just how chances are that you won't get in a car accident the day you choose not to wear seatbelts.  But if something were to happen, I would feel horrible knowing that I took the risk. I cannot protect my baby from everything, but this is one of those things where I personally choose to go by the rules. But in the end, every parent has to make their own decisions.

To be honest, my baby doesn't even move when he sleeps. He's 3 months old as well and I'm keeping them on until he starts wiggling and moving more!

Totally agree with Nabi. I got the mesh bumpers. It's safe and I've got to say, I like it more since it isn't so thick. Here's my boys crib. He's also 3 months. He has only napped in it so far since I also have a fear of SIDS. Hopefully I can get over that fear so he can enjoy his bed.
