Planned C-Section or vaginal delivery?

I'd love to hear from women who've had both c-sections and vag delivery in the pros and cons of either. I am considering a planned c-section because of all the horror stories and be heard of damaged pelvic floors and tearing...

C-sections are NOT a walk in the park hun. And people who say, you took the easy way out are crazy! I could barely walk after my C section. I had my mother stay at my house for the first two weeks to help me. I could barely walk standing straight up, steps are a no go (at all), trying to go #2 was painful, you use sooooo many stomach muscles everyday that you probably had no idea you  even had lol and we'll you are taking care of your baby, you are also on heavy pain pills and need to take moves/lifting easy. Keep your incision clean. Also, if you wanted to breast feed that would be a challenge too.

Please try for a vaginal delivery.

When I had my first I was about a week overdue (according to my known conception date) and 0 cm dilated. I got so frustrated at my last appointment I was crying. They started talking about induction which I didn't want so I chose to have a c-section. Every time I look back on that moment I wish I had done it differently. I lost the chance to experience labor, to hold my daughter right after birth, it made breastfeding more difficult for me since my milk wasn't coming in, which I believe happened because she was taken out before she was ready. Recovery wasn't that bad for me, but I have a very high tolerance for pain.

Needless to say, I'm having my second due in January and I will be going to a TOLAC (VBAC), recovery time is much faster,which is necessary since I have a 2 year old and my huband only get 10 days for paternity leave, and I'll be able to experience all that I lost when I decided to have a c-section.

I haven't given birth yet but the possibility of a c-section was on the table before yesterday because my baby was breech. I was devastated about it. A c-section just sounds so painful with a much longer recovery time. I was thrilled yesterday at the sonogram to find out she was head down! It is very important to me to have a vaginal delivery if possible!

C-sections should be left for medical conditions/ emergencies. Sure vaginal birth is painful and you may have some tares but vaginas heal, they were made for this. Their are great benefits for the baby to be delivered through the birth canal. Mainly getting the mucus squeezed out of their lungs. C-section babies have a higher risk of respiratory problems.

I personally haven't had a c section but have had 4 vaginal deliveries.  I tore a little on the first one and had to have a few stitches, didn't feel the tear or the stitches because of the epidural.   With the other 3 I didn't have the epidural so was able to more more and had great nurses who took their time and didn't rush me thru pushing, no tears no stitches.  My husband has never complained about anything and I don't have the problem with leaking when I cough, or sneeze like many people complain about.  I contribute that to kegals, done regularly.

I've had a vaginal delivery and an emergency c-section. To me the vaginal delivery was much easier. It's a faster recovery, less painful afterwards, and you go home sooner. I had to get an episiotomy with my delivery. They usually will do this before you even tear. You won't feel it and it'll be the last thing you are worried about. I never had any issues with it afterwards. With my c-section it was painful to get up, to walk, I had to stay in the hospital longer. I was so sleepy from all the pain meds that I was in a fog. I also got an infection and had to pack my wound until it healed. Now I have a flap of skin (I call it a fanny pack) from where I had the c-section. I didn't have that with my vaginal delivery. I had that c-section 8 years ago and I still don't have good feeling around the scar. I would recommend vaginally delivering unless there is a medical reason for you to have a c-section. Our bodies were made to deliver naturally. I'm trying VBAC with this baby. I know it's scary because of the pain or what not but it's so worth it.

I had a vaginal delivery with no tearing. Aside from the normal recovery bleeding, I was up and back to normal the next day.

I've not had a vaginal delivery I've had an emergency section and elective both due to medical reason and I believe they should only be for medical reasons. The recovery is long and painful! My emergency section took a total of 12 weeks to heal fully. And my elective was 23 days ago so still recovering!

I wanted a natural birth, but ended up with a c section, due to a failed induction (which I will never allow induction again). I can honestly say the c section was not as bad as I anticipated. ..I was up and walking the same day. I however would never choose to have a c section over a natural birth. In fact next pregnancy I am prepared to fight for a vbac.

I had a c section. I was OK after the first two weeks home. Recovery was hard, my back hurt more than my incision. I couldnt drive, and lifting a 10 pound baby was hard
