German mums?

I was born and raised in Germany but moved to Thousand Oaks to finish my high school because of my Dads job. Later my fianceé and I moved to LA and my parents and sister moved back in Germany again because I finished school, anyways I feel pretty alone now, I really miss Germany and my family and my fianceé and I will go to Germany soon but once our baby is there, we probably wont be able to go so early. Does anyone have any advice how to feel a little bit  German in America?

I am not German but also a foreigner living in CA. Use google to see if there are any German restaurants, stores or churches nearby. Once you meet some Germans here they can help you connect with the community in your area.

My husband has dual-citizenship with The United States and Germany. We decided Germany would be an ideal place to provide a better life for our first child. He's been there a month looking for employment and housing.

I know how you feel because all of my family is in America. My dad is 65 years old and I really feel guilty leaving him. He's sad that I'm leaving and is afraid he'll never see me again. I wish he was 20 years younger. :( Also, this is his first grandchild and I'm his only child. He may or may not even get to meet her when she's born, depending on how soon my husband can find a job and housing.

Is there any way for you to move to Germany before the baby is born? You get paid maternity leave there! Which is sadly not the case in the US; more the exception.

Hi! I totally hear you honey! I am also international and most of the times you wonder: wish i was home. I suggest checking your local area meet up groups! I am sure there are german living in your area. If you have facebook, post/ ask for help! People are helpful once they know. I was lucky to meet nice people via friends from my hometown. Ask your friends back home, perhaps they can help! I wish you good luck, bis spater;)
