What do contractions feel like???

My doctor did my 36 weeks pelvic exam and said my cervix is just BARELY starting to dialate, and that it is softening up and moving down. So she said the next thing to expect is contractions. I was just wondering what they feel like. I don't think I have had any.

What do your contractions feel like?

Your stomach feels like it's tightening into a ball....it was the worst...but again I had a placenta abruption and had to get an emergency c section within 15 mins of being at the hospital.. So hopefully ur contractions are bearable and not the worst of the worst

Like really bad period cramps. Best way to describe em..sometimes u can feel them in your back and then they radiate forward...but with my first I only had them in my stomach...they come slow and then as time moves forward they come faster and stronger together... I had a placenta abruption tho, so my cramps were bearable at first...then felt like hell after about 15mins.... They shouldn't feel that bad that fast...

At night lately I have been feeling low back pain (different from the back pain that has plagued me since the second trimester), and period like cramping pain. I cannot feel the "tightening" though. Could this still be contractions???
