ANYONE EVER HAD AN HSG XRAY? HELP!

hi ladies. I'm having an HSG tomorrow and I'm freaking out. I'm unsure what to expect and very nervous about the contrast dye and the entire procedure. Any insight and/or experiences you can share would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

I had gotten mine done a few months back, it was very painful for me. I would definitely recommend you take some precautionary advice or something. After word there will be some leaking/discharge so bring a pad you will be comfortable in because you are not supposed to wear a tampon after.

I had one several years ago. I felt some discomfort at first and then he started to inject the dye and it hurt really really bad. I kept watching the screen to see if the dye was coming out yet and it seemed like it took forever but it eventually did come out. They say it was probably a little more painful for me because it was almost like flushing out the debris since I had had 2 surgeries prior to that for cysts on my ovaries and tubes and also I had endometriosis kind of spread everywhere. However, the fertility doctor also said that by having that test done it clears out all the debris and is usually the best time to start trying to conceive. I wish you the best of luck. Conceiving just isn't easy for some people like it is others. I just turned 34 and have only had 1 molar pregnancy. I do have a lot of other health problems but after trying to conceive for 6 years I gave up. Now I am in another relationship which has been several years now and still nothing. So I just wonder if just isn't possible for me. I hope all goes well for you. Try not to be too nervous or scared. It isn't completely awful. I have had other things done and that wasn't near as bad. But I do remember it really hurting and tears running down my face but after a few minutes it subsided and then I was just a little uncomfortable for the rest of the day. I know that everyone does handle pain differently tho. So maybe take some ibuprofen before you go and then when you get home when you can take it again and if you feel you need to take it again then take it or maybe some other alternative. Good luck!

I had to get that done when I was ttc it doesn't hurt your just gonna be a little sore after but it's gonna be ok

I had one - you feel some pressure when the dye is inserted to see whether your tubes are open or not, and you may feel discomfort from the speculum-like tool that is used to open your v, but it is not much worse than the annual visit Pap smear.  Good luck!

Had one in August it was uncomfortable during the test and I was cramps afterwards but not terrible. Take some Motrin!!

I had mine 2 month ago but wasn't painful at all for me. The whole procedure took like 5min. I took motrin 30 minute before  the procedure. So you can take some too and relax as much as you can during the procedure.

I need do get one done and I'm scared to death 😁 I've always heard Bad things about them and I have a realllyy low tolerance for pain

I had mine done back in June the actual procedure was not painful at all, but about an hour after the procedure I had really bad cramps it felt like I was having contractions. I wouldn't recommend going to work that day. I would take a rest day.
