Am I over reacting?

I hate when my boyfriends parents bring up him ex girlfriends or when anyone bring it up and what they use to do. I get very mad and just quit talking and just shut everyone out. Am I over reacting about it or what? All I can do is think about our past and it's not the best. In the start is was very bumpy but now it's pretty smooth.

You aren't overreacting, I had the same situation at the start of my relationship with my boyfriend and the reason it irritated me more was because when my boyfriend and I started dating, we had a 'bumpy' start not because we didn't really like each other and didn't have fun together but because his ex-girlfriend was a bit of a psycho, she wouldn't let go of him, kept giving him presents, she'd push me out of the way when I'd see her out at a club and so forth! So when on top of that his mum would talk about her I'd get super upset. Thank god that died down and they don't speak of her anymore, but I think the biggest thing is to remember you're the one he's with not any of those other girls. What makes me happy is knowing that I make my boyfriend happier than his ex ever did (we were friends for 7 years before we dated so I knew all the drama there and he would often tell me if I ever questioned about her) it's fair to be bothered by them bringing his ex-girlfriends up but maybe try not going so far as shutting people out and so forth! It won't make you any happier! Remember if he's with you you're the girl he wants! :)

My boyfriend lost his virginity to his last girlfriend and he always used to bringing her up. What they used to do and where they used to go. I asked him to stop talking about her because it made me sad and uncomfortable. He didn't realize it was affecting me like that (what a typical guy right? 😂) so he stopped. It's all about communication, he's much more in tune with my feelings now but just tell your boyfriend that it's not ok.

Your not overreacting, but your the one who's with him now. You can't control what his parents say but you can control how you react. It's ok to be upset about it, just try not to close yourself off because of it. I know how hard that is, trust me. But you'll attract less attention if you give more. Also, when you get upset about it just think about the fact that YOU are the one with him now, not those other girls. The past is the past and the future is now, so focus on that. Iv been through some of the same stuff with my boyfriend, so I feel you.
