Is it to early to tell if I could be pregnant?

Okay I'll try not to confuse. So after my last period I was away and didn't have my script on me and ended up running out of my pill so  two weeks went by with out me taking the pill and I had sex with my partner unprotected a few times. By time I went and bought my pill I had taken it only for a few days when my partner said he wants to have a baby and that's when I told him about not taking my pill for two weeks and that I didn't tell him before cause I was worried it's cause an argument for not being my script with me or buying it before going away. I was meant to get my period today and I haven't gotten it yet my partner is getting a bit excited and I don't want him to be disappointed if I end up getting my period. Is it too early to test or should I wait a few more days and then take a test? Sorry for such the long story.
