Implant someone help!!!

My implant ran out 5th September and I still haven't had it actually removed, I've heard that it will not cause any damage for however long it's still in there, however 15th October I got my first proper period since having the implant and I'm still on my period it's been almost 13 days, it's irregular like one minute I think I've come off then the next I'm on again.. I want to try for a baby now & im just wondering could I leave my implant in for as long as I can and will I need to see a doctor about my period??
