Ultrasound question?

Hi I was just curious if you can ask for a ultrasound if you haven't had one in over a month and also no blood work done at all. I'm curious to see if my baby is healthy or growing. I've only had one at 7 weeks and now I'm 17 weeks and not one blood lab done or anything. So some advice or thoughts please?

You'll have one soon around 20weeks to check how everything is growing. They look at everything and do a bunch of measurements

Im surprised you haven't had any blood work done at all. I would mention it to your doctor. However, unless you're high risk, generally only a few ultrasounds are done in total. I had mine at 11 weeks, 20 weeks, & not again until 30 weeks. If you want an extra one, you may have to pay out of pocket for it. The same goes for bloodwork (and you don't want to know how much that costs 😒)

Sounds pretty normal to me to be honest. And you're gonna have an anatomy scan soon in the next few weeks so I wouldn't worry about it

I only had one at 6 weeks, 19 and last one coming up at 34. If you're not high risk I wouldn't worry Or want too many if you don't need them. You can always request but I'm sure the baby's growing just fine!

No first trimester screening at 12 weeks? That's a bit strange to me because that's the norm at my OB's office.

An ultrasound isn't usually a routine thing, the insurance usually dictates how many you can receive. But you can always request blood work, I get mine done once a month. I have hypothyroid so it's necessary but it's also good for iron numbers and other things.

My insurance only pays for one (anatomy scan at 20 weeks) unless medically necessary and my OB didn't think it was necessary since we heard heartbeat on Doppler at first appointment (10 weeks). If I hadn't been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and therefore now considered high risk, I would have only gotten one. You can always pay out of pocket (either at OB or elective place) but they are not cheap
