Sponge? Diaphragm?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years, and are not planning on kids any time soon. But I cant use birth control due to complications taking it in the past. And my doctor wont give me an IUD because I haven't had a child. Also, other forms of contraceptives can be expensive and messy. Does anyone have any experience with a sponge or diaphragm?

You can find another doc or even planned parenthood that will give you an IUD. The sponge and diaphragm have too high of a failure rate for anyone who cannot have a kid right now. If an unplanned baby was no biggie I would say go for it.

If you use a diaphragm correctly it can be very effective. You would need to be fitted for one.
A sponge is a bit less effective, but if used in conjuction with natural family planning (and condoms during times of fertility) it can be a great method!
If you do really want an iud, get a second opinion. It is painful to have it inserted because they have to dialate your cervix. If you gave never had a baby that part really sucks! But it can be done

I think you should see another doctor about an IUD. I've known plenty of people who have had them without having kids. I have never seen a sponge or a diaphragm in a store and I would think condoms would be cheaper and more efficient than both of those options.

My sister in law had an iud, had it removed, and was pregnant in a few months. I don't see why you can't have one if you haven't had kids. It shouldn't matter

Why don't u get the deposit shot if u don't want any even being in it n having one shot can stop u having kids from up to a yr u have to have it done every 11 weeks x
