Breastfeeding and period?

So two days ago I had my postpartum checkup (6 weeks), I'm breastfeeding and pumping and still got my period yesterday.. I know that could happen but I understood that the chances are slim so am I doing something wrong? I've had family visiting so lately she's been bottle fed more then nursed could that be why?
And also the fact that I got my period now means I'm still going to get it every month now even when I'm breastfeeding?

With my first, I only breastfed for 4 months and pumped for another 2. I got my period 9 months after baby. I ebf with my second and I got my period about 8w, but then didn't have another one for another 9 months. I don't think you're doing anything wrong.

No one knows the magic number for each woman's body that brings about AF, for some missing one feed can trigger it for others they have to fully wean. You may have just had breakthrough bleeding which is common around 6 wks pp and can be mistaken for a period

Breastfeeding should prevent ovulation if done at least every four hours at a minimum, and if the baby gets to suckle on mom even when not hungry, so more bottle feeding could definitely be a reason.
