Dorm?

Question

Hey everyone! I just got accepted to Plattsburgh state!!! And now I'm looking into dorms.. Has anyone had experience with suites? Where you like in a pod with 5 or 6 different people? And share a bathroom and kitchen? Or have had experience with just a double? I'm not sure what I should go for.. I see pros and cons for both situations. Any suggestions!?

I stayed in the dorms when I was in upward bound (during my hs years). I always had 1-2 roomies each year and they usually give you a bunk bed and a single, 2 desks, 1-2 dressers. I personally enjoyed it, but sometimes the bathrooms can get pretty gross if others aren't very hygienic.

Ours are set up like apartment buildings. These rooms have 4 bedrooms two baths and two double sinks. With a kitchenette and living room area and two closets.

The other ones are single rooms two to a room and its conjoined with another room and all 4 of you share a bathroom and two sinks. It's horrible.

I think a dorm choice really depends on the person. What kind of routine do you plan on having? Are you comfortable accommodating many personalities? Is cleanliness very important to you? Do you like having a lot of people around? Do you study at home? Do you like quiet or noisy spaces? Etc I've lived in traditional dorms (where an entire floor shares a centered bathroom), a suite, an apartment on campus (3br/1 bath/shared kitchen), and an apartment off campus (4 bedroom/4 bath/shared kitchen). The more people, especially randomly sorted people, the more likelihood of issues with cleanliness. Also, if there are many people, they will probably bring lots of company to your space which is great if you're a social butterfly, not so much if you like to be alone or need quiet to study. At the beginning in of my college experience I loved living with lots of people because it gave me an opportunity to make lots of friends. As I got older, however, I preferred just 1 or 2 people in my space so that I easily had quiet time to study and rest and didn't have to worry about cleaning up after a bunch of other people. I'm not sure if that helps but those are some things I took into consideration when living w/other ppl in college.

I don't go to that particular college but I know in my college the double rooms you share with another person but then you have to use public showers and bathrooms. In the suites you share a suite with anywhere from 2-4 people and only share a bathroom and shower and kitchen with those people. In my opinion the suites are better
