The real question is why do married people cheat? The person they're cheating with has made no promises or commitments. Place the blame on the correct party.

I think most of the time women don't care if a man is married. They will still come after him. 
It could also be that these women don't know the man is married. 
I would say it takes two to cheat so it's on both of their hands not just one or the other! 
I think people cheat while in a marriage or relationship because they're weak. Weak minded they have a weak soul and they just feed into and give into the temptation of cheating!

I spent 1year unknowingly dating a taken man with kids. He was an expert con artist with a fully decorated town house in the city with his brother as a roommate and I had a key to his place(his wife lived in the suburbs). In every aspect he was my SO and he met my family, asked me to marry him and I loved him.  After awhile I got suspicious bc a woman kept calling him etc.... And let's face it guys are not careful once they trust you. I thought he was cheating and yet I discover I was the other woman and I was heartbroken. I ended it immediately and he spent the next 2 years desperately trying to win me back while still with that woman. Even if I had chosen to keep him, would my love and energy for my relationship be any less valuable than his wife's situation? I just want to say that for those of you who label  with small minded terms like "stupid or man-hunter or jealous of your love" it's not always as your partner tells the story! I'm a Doctor with a vibrant career and I love myself and have great respect for other women. Fact: he asked me out in a coffee shop, he pursued me and he betrayed my trust just as he did his wife's. But I'm still "the other woman" and I can't easily share my sadness bc other women judge and blame me...even good friends... Why? Bc I should have known better? or I should never have had real feelings for a liar?  I believe that  it makes women uncomfortable in these situations because they feel like it could happen to them just as easy so it's easier to blame someone i.e. The other woman, rather than make a genuine assessment of the situation and quality of SO they have chosen. So let me say now that I am proud to be labeled THE OTHER WOMAN and I stand for all those who have been made to feel ashamed or cheap due to labels. I challenge you all to outgrow stereotypes and be kinder to other women in our generation.

I feel like some women follow the lead of the man. If he has no respect for his own marriage or wife, I can see where a woman who has feelings for him might be inclined to have little respect for his marriage and wife as well. If he's lying and exaggerating about how bad it is at home, his lack of love for his wife or his lack of a sex life, that could also contribute to this woman being more inclined to cheat with him. I can also see where love might cloud her judgment and she might become more self centered than she would normally be. More often than not, it's when he doesn't leave his wife that the other woman realizes it wasn't actually love and she begins to feel guilt and remorse.

When I was 18, I ran around after an older married man.

I certainly can't say I was interested because he was married. If anything that was a positive because I knew the relationship wasn't serious or going anywhere. But mostly I just think it's because I was young and dumb. I never thought about others or even long term. I was a typical teen. Selfish, indestructible, and only cared about the here and now.

Perhaps the woman didn't know the man was married , or maybe the mans relationship with his wife lacks what he wants and craves so he finds another woman to satisfy his needs and what she so much lacks . No one in life is perfect , and some woman tend to cater to a man and give him thier all until they get that title of "wife" and then decide they no longer need to try or satisfy thier man cause he is already thier "husband" so "why try" therefore steering the man away and allowing him the opportunity to cheat . Point of it is , if someone is fully satisfied , in love , and has all they desire they have no need to cheat or steer away . It's when things start to dwindle and lack that a partner tends to walk away and "wander" so to speak to fill that missing void .

Some woman just don't care. I knew a girl who slept with a married man in their bed and the next day at church shook the wife's hand and hugged the kids. I was like wow and then she had the balls to judge me for having sex with a guy I only knew a few weeks. But she also went after guys I liked and would sleep with them so they wouldn't be interested in me. So I would say insecurities. But then again I have insecurities and I sure as heck would never sleep with a married man and I would never cheat on my husband. Couldn't do it. I've been cheated on so many times and it hurts so much I don't wish it on my worse enemy

Same question goes for men why do they cheat with married women? Some times the married person(the one looking to cheat) don't let the other party know til is to late...and sometimes people do things in the heat of the moment and don't realize it until after it happens and truly regrets what happen(this does happen...I have a friend that this happen to and he wasn't looking to cheat was only comforting a mutual friend when his happened and his wife forgave both because she knew both (husband and friend) felt horrible about what happen and that it meant nothing and knew he would never do that again)
