Opinion on war?

Question

After studying WW1 in relation to mental health with literature produced from a variety of positions I'm a pacifist.

Imo violence is pointless because the people killed are innocent soldiers being used as pawns by the minority that caused it. Even if it's voluntary and not drafted the soldiers are never told the full story and are just fighting other innocents who are 'protecting their country' from what they've been told, too. It's cruel, barbaric and outdated.

Just wondering what everyone else's thoughts are.

In a perfect world I'd be completely against war. Sadly, that's not the case. Sometimes war and violence is the only answer. Sometimes we have to sacrifice our lives for a better future, a future that's safer for our children.

I hate war, but sometimes it's the only option.

Until we find that magical solution, war can be a necessary evil but should be the last resort.

Wars are stupid. The only reason we need to go to war is if some stupid fuck like hitler starts killing innocent people, and someone needs to stop that person. Even then, it’s excessive to wipe cities off the map because of that. If people could talk these things out, a lot of lives could be saved.
