So pissed. Tell me if I'm overreacting

Today is my husband's birthday. I got him an outfit that I told him was for him to wear tonight for dinner. I stepped out for a second to get my blood pressure checked (I just had a preemie, she came early due to preeclampsia). When I got back home, my husband was gone. I just called him and he said he was out having drinks with his friend. He knew I had plans for him. Should I be upset?
