Breastfeeding and pacifiers.

How many breastfeeding moms use pacifiers? My daughter is 3 days old and has always had a great latch and eats well but has screamed all day. Still eating but not sleeping and she acts like she wants boob but kinda licks it and starts screaming at it. After 16 hours with only 3 intermittent hours of sleep for her I have in and have her a pacifier even though people have told me not to for the first month. She is so happy!! I actually cried when she took it thinking I'm failing at breastfeeding.
