Birth control

Ok so I have a few questions. I went to my obgyn on October 29th and he did a ultrasound and discovered I have pcos. I was on cycle day 10 and he put me on birth control for a few months to try and shrink the cyst and then is gonna start me on clomid in January. I am currently 5 days late. I started taking the white pills today. Is it normal to be late because I started the pill mid cycle?
