Over 40 Weeks-How long will you let your pregnancy go over before being induced?

Question

If you are planning an "eviction" due date past 40 weeks, how long do you plan to "go over" and why? Please mention if your are a FTM, bring that I know first pregnancies can go over more often!

I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow and my doctor hasn't even brought it up. The average length of pregnancy is 41 weeks and 1 day, so I plan on at least making it that far. I'm not at all interested in being induced, so I may push for a full 42 weeks as long as me and baby are healthy.

Don't let wanting to be drug free be the determining factor to keep you from induction . I have delivered 3 babies without an epidural on pitocin. It is totally doable.

My provider lets women go until 42 weeks before induction and I'm 41+1 today. I am a FTM and I'm super happy that my provider understands that it's very normal to give birth anytime before 42 weeks and if baby isn't here by 42, then we'll induce but they offer a few options like cervadil or foley bulb before breaking of water or pitocin;) love my provider;)

Due date is Sunday, the 22nd, and unless baby boy makes a natural appearance before Monday, I have an induction appointment for Monday the 23rd. This is my third child, and I have never had a single contraction without medical help. My other two had to be induced at 41 weeks, and both births went beautifully. However, my last was 9lbs 15 oz, and this boy is measuring 41 weeks already, so my doctor doesn't want me to have another 10 pounder. Here's hoping your (and my) delivery goes well!  Good luck!

I'm willing to go all the way to 42 weeks.  I've felt good all pregnancy and the baby is doing well. :) I'm currently 38+6.

I'm 41+2 today..FTM. Scheduled for 1st membrane sweep tomorow morning. Doc says if this doesn't work she'd prefer to induce me at 42w to reduce risk of complications. Baby and me are doing perfectly fine. I would wait longer if i could as I want a natural drug free calm water birth.

Doctor won't let me go past a week over my due date. I'm a first time mom so may be induced a day before 41 weeks. Hoping that labor will begin naturally & baby will come on their own. I'm 39 weeks

My first pregnancy I was over by 6 days and naturally my waters broke, but I didn't have pains so I had to be induced further... This pregnancy I am getting induced on my due date which will be the 28th so I'm really happy I won't be going over!

I was due yesterday (Thursday). I'm scheduled to be inducted on the 26th, so Wednesday. FTM. My cervix is still really high, they weren't able to do a sweep. So because I have an "unfavourable cervix", I was allowed to pick my induction date. We are hoping baby boy will be born on the 27th because my husband and I were both born on the 27th of different months :) 
So because of this, I'm expecting him to come on the 25th lol
